Why your page address is important

Over the last 3 years, I have noticed more websites are using the page format of http://www.babyshopexample.com/baby-car-seats/infant-capsule, instead of the traditional format of http://www.mysite.com/category.php?category=354af9asdfk34.

The first format is very clean, and easy for Google to read. Google can tell three things from your site address:
  1. Index the page for Baby Shop
  2. Index the page for Baby Car Seats
  3. Index the page for Infant Capsules
Of course your web page will be indexed to match other key phrases, which as referred to in the previous entry, key phrases is all about being "relevant".

So if your website is still showing pages similar to category.php?category=354af9asdfk34, I would strong recommend to change it, and invest time into creating smart site links.

For a better understanding, on how to discover good key phrases for your industry, jump onto Google and search "Google Keyword Tool". Use popular key phrases as a basis for your site links.
