Secret to Google Adwords

The word of the day is "relevant".

I am asked frequently, how do I get top spots in Google Adwords without paying $3 or even $10 per click?

The answer, make your ad group and your landing page relevant to the keywords in the ad group. If you don't know what an ad group is, I'll explain. A campaign is made up of a number of ads and an ad group is one ad with a group of keyword phrases, which trigger the ad to display on Google or its Content Delivery Network.

To explain why our word of the day is relevant, I am going to use an online Toy Store as an example. We have created an online toy store, and used the domain www.toysforsale.co.nz. We want to get top spots for Lego, so firstly we take one section of Lego, for example "Lego Star Wars". We use the Google Keyword tool to discover 2100 people in New Zealand search "Lego Star Wars" on Google. With this information, we create a page and use the site address www.toysforsale.co.nz/Lego-Star-Wars. As you can see the keyword is used within the site address, and naturally in the follow areas: Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description, and H1 Tag as the heading of the page.

The next step is to head on over to Google Adwords, and create a new campaign. The title of the campaign will of course be Lego Star Wars, and within the two lines allocated we will use the key phrase Lego Star Wars. The display domain will be toysforsale.co.nz/Lego-Star-Wars, and the link will be http://www.toysforsale.co.nz/Lego-Star-Wars.

Once your ad has been approved, you will notice for the Key Phrase "Lego Star Wars", will display a very favourable position for the amount paid. Instead of paying $3 per click, you may only have to pay $0.25.
